This painting is sriking to me because of the implied connectedness of the horses. It is as if they are actually two sides of the same horse.

As the viewer I readily accept one a dominent. I can see that as being completely subjective to the viewer. The darker cooler colored horse indifferently is turned away while the warmer colored one happily faces the viewer. It makes me wonder which horse is the more sincere one.

This painting to me mirrors the human personality and shows the interpersonal stuggle of who we are perceived to be versus what we really are.
