This is a copy of a vintage Fred Harvey postcard of the Albuquerque train station with the Alvarado Hotel. I did this for my friend who has a passion for all things Fred Harvey. She is a Harvey Head.
I took old flower vases and votive holders and turned them into faux mercury glass using Krylon Looking Glass paint.
I then filled the containers with soy wax candles. These were both new crafts for me. I am pretty pleased with the results.
For some reason I was afraid to make the candles but the only skills needed was boiling water to melt the wax and figuring out a way to center the wicks. There are devices you can buy to center wicks but I just cut a slit in blue tape to feed the wick through and it worked just great.
